Couldn't find it

Context: At the restaurant, commenting on food while eating food.

A: Food is a little bit salty.

B: Oh. I couldn't find it. [He could not recognize whether food is salty or not but he might usually eat food that is salty]

Please check them.

I think "couldn't find it" does not make sense. Please suggest any phrase.
