It has been said that the youth ought to spend more time on cultural activities like music and theatre rather than taking part in activities related to sport. From my perspective, teenagers should balance their free time in both of these activities, and I do not agree with the statement showing the bias in favour of cultural activities.
A lot of people have their own opinions that young people would get many benefits from taking their free time to participate in cultural activities since they might help them improve their mental health. Besides, these activities can give them more opportunities to broaden their mind because they can discover diverse cultures through the arts created by genius artists in the world from the past to the present. Moreover, cultural activities would open doors for the young to communicate with many people in different countries, which may be based on the knowledge they have gotten from the activities. Skills would assist them to succeed in their future careers.
However, teenagers have to spend their time on sport instead of just focusing on cultural activities. First, playing sports is a marvellous method to improve their physical health. Sports such as jogging, swimming and football help the young consolidate the circulatory and respiratory system and their bodies' endurance so that they could work and study effectively. Another reason for playing sports is raising their sense of competition which may trigger their abilities to try to do their best to overcome obstacles of life and go beyond their limits in many issues. Last but not least, sport can affect young people's awareness of the importance of solidarity, so they could cooperate and get on well with their mates and colleagues at schools or offices. Relationships would be built sincerely, thoughtfully, and sympathetically.
In brief, I want to emphasize the balance in time teenagers should spend on cultural activities and sport because both of them have many positive effects. We should not have the bias towards any activities.
