Topic: Should computers and tablets completely replace books in schools and universities?
As the rise of technology in recent decade, electronic devices like computers and tablets were invented and gradually become an innovative and helpful teaching tool in many academic institute. Some people even suggested the idea that these high-tech devices should completely replace books in schools and universities. I think this idea may sound nice but it should not be implemented because it's too expensive and will make schooling becomes ineffective.
To begin with, replacing printed material with electronic devices is costly, especially with a third world country like Vietnam. In fact, the Vietnam Congress denied a similar idea because after some research they found out that to initiate such transformation would cost half of the national development budget. Even if to some other countries, the cost of the replacement would not be a problem, computers and other devices should not be an alternative choice for books in education facilities. Reading a printed book helps student to stay focus on the subject matter, they can only do one thing each time - reading. Meanwhile, on high-tech devices students could do many things in the same time, they can listen to music while reading, they play games, they scroll facebook. It sounds convenient but it's too distracting for learners to really focus on the matter, specifically complex matters.
Because of these two reasons, I believe that replacing books with electronic devices is a bad idea and should not be encouraged to be presented as the main storage of information in school and universities.
