believe that in order to understand why I'm a great candidate for the MBA program, the board of directors need to learn more about myself. My name is Andrew Fernandez and I'm originally from Colombia. I lived there most of my life until I finished high school. Although my country has had many political and economic issues throughout the years, I'm very proud to have been able to learn and grow up there as it has taught me the family values, how to appreciate friendships and most important, I got the desire to make myself better every day. My family and I moved to United States in 2002, my parents made a huge sacrifice by leaving their jobs, their friends, their house and all of their belongings. Many people would wonder why would they do that, but the answer is simple, my parents did it for me. They wanted my brother and I to have a better future and receive a higher education in what they considered the greatest country in the world, The United States of America. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that we had some difficult times adapting to the new culture, but overall its being a very rich experience. I was able to finish my education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas while I worked full time in the banking industry. During this time, I applied my education to my every day work life. I was promoted several times within the organization that I worked for and as always, I gave everything I could to be one of the top producers. After my graduation, I decided that I need it to expand my knowledge and my experiences by traveling to Europe. I cannot emphasize how much this experience changed my life. I was able to learn so much about different cultures, foods and most importantly, I could finally relate and see the places that shape our humanity. Once I came back to the United States I continued my professional career with Citi Bank. I have always been very blessed obtaining employment despite the fact that the mortgage sector has been so volatile in the past years; it’s obvious that every country has been affected by the current economic issues. On the bright side, seeing how the economy has affected everyone has showed me that education is what will allow me to stand out from the others, as many of my college professors would say “knowledge is power.” I want to better and most importantly, I want to be the best. I need to keep working on my career and I strongly believe that this MBA could help me accomplish a lot more in life. I feel that I owe that to myself, but especially to my family. I think that being able to study in your University will be a dream come true. I'm aware that current employers are looking for smart, fast paced individuals, but also people with international experience and rich cultural backgrounds. I see the Importance of being prepared and being a competitive professional. I believe I have sufficient professional experience, and the urge to take the next step in my career and this is why I strongly believe that I'm a great candidate for your MBA program.
