These days more fathers stay at home and take care of their children while mother go out to work.

What could be the reasons for this?

Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

In recent years, there is an upward trend that fathers take responsibilities for the taking care of children, while mothers are accountable for making a living. There are various reasons to explain for this situation, and I believe that this is a positive and necessary trends for the development of the society.

The first reason for this change is the changes of people’s mindset about the role of husband and wife in family. The old generation always have an outdated conviction that father take responsibility for supporting family, whereas mother is hold accountable for the housework and child-minding. But now the positive changes in society help increase the awareness of genders equality. All women and men are offered the same opportunities to pursue their career. In fact, the reality shows that in some specific jobs which demand carefulness and persistence women actually have a better performance than men. And in some families where the wives could earn high salaries to cover their living expenses, it is better to have the fathers look after their children instead of hiring babysitters or sending their children to child care center.

For a variety of reasons, the changing in roles of husband and wife is a positive trend and it could bring lots of benefits to the development of society. First, the popularity of this trend is an indicator that the obsolete bigotry about genders is wrong and it is eliminated in the modern society. Second, the women now are having chances to express themselves. They are not hiding their light under a bushel anymore. And they all are capable of furthering their career and moving up the career ladder. Finally, when the fathers take care of their children and housework, they will understand the sacrifice and the dedication of their wives. This will make them appreciate the value of the mother in each household.

To conclude, the switching roles between fathers and mothers is inevitable in modern world where both men and women have the same working opportunities.
