Could you please review my ielts writing task 2 essay

Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement. To what extent do you think law are needed to make people recycle more of their waste?

In recent years, there are a lot of efforts have been made to reduce the amount of waste discharged into the environment. But the amount of waste from homes which is recycled is still negligible, and people believe that governments should impose laws to increase recycling. In my view, I partly agree with this perspective but I do not think that a legal requirement is the only method the governments could use.

On one hand, the imposition of recycling law could be an effective method to tackle the problem and it could reduce the amount of waste. In detail, the government should take action on the people that violate the recycling law. For example, householder that not follow the instruction of the law, such as not classify their trash properly or deny to pay recycling tax, could be punished by getting a non-custodial sentence. The implementation of these non-custodial sentences could act as a deterrent to avoid people violating the rules. Therefore, the waste problems could be alleviated.

On the other hand, there are a variety of methods that the governments should take into consideration instead of only applying the recycling law. First, the schools should educate students about the important of preserving the environment. Moreover, the extracurricular activities such as collecting trash in public areas could also play an essential role. It helps students understand their important roles in environmental protection. Second, the broadcaster should create TV shows about the environmental degradation and ecological crisis to disseminate the issues that we are now facing. Finally, the government should increase the amount of money spending on research about new materials that can automatically decompose and are environmentally friendly. All these methods mentioned above could be a game-changer in the process of protecting our environment.

In conclusion, I think that the governments should apply various methods to tackle the waste problem instead of being over-reliant on recycling law.
