We can not help everyone in the world what needs help, so we should only be concerned with our own communities and countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
There are a lot of people who are impoverished and disadvantaged in some ways all around the world, especially in poor countries. Therefore, some people think that we can not help all of them and we should only focus on helping the miserable people in our own countries and local communities. In my opinion, I partly agree with this statement.
On one hand, I do support the idea that we should concern about our neighborhoods and help other poor citizens. It is always easier to be aware of the disadvantaged around us and helping them could bring an immediate benefit to our local communities. In every city, even the biggest and richest one, there are always people who are suffering everyday because of hungry and their living conditions are extremely terrible. Moreover, there are various ways that we could alleviate these social problems and contribute to our society. For example, we could take action on the social issues by funding the charity or donating clothes and food for them.
On the other hand, I do not think that we should let the national boundaries become the barrier preventing our help to other people. Even thought in this modern world, the rapid development of technology improves and makes our lives become comfortable than ever, there still are people who are affected by natural disaster, plague and famine. The governments in developed countries could save these people by sponsoring the vaccination program or increasing the provision of food to poor countries. A small donation of every country could make a huge impact on development of the Third World countries.
To conclude, I agree that we should prioritize the concern about our own countries and local communities but we should also help people in other countries too, because they might encounter more serious problems than those in our communities.
