Today, TV channels provide man’s sport shows more than women’s sport shows, why? Should TV channels give equal time for women’s sport and men’s sport?
These days, there are more television programmes of sport for males than females. There are some specific reasons for this but I totally agree to have equal time in TV’s women's sport and men's sport. In this essay, I will clarify the reasons for this phenomenon and why I agree to share the showing time.
Apparently, there are two main reasons why TV channels provide more men’s sport shows. First of all, the percentage of males who play sports is larger than females which means the proportion of men who know and have interest in that sport shows must be higher. Let's take basketball shows as an example, some global shows such as NBA illustrate the quantity of male spectators are bigger. Secondly, it may come from the imparity of the male and female sport players. If there are not enough female players, some matches will not happen and they have no records to show.
The reason why I agree that women and men’s sport shows should be given equal time by the TV channels is to encourage girls to play sports when they see many girls playing sports on television. To be more specific, when they see women play soccer through the TV, maybe they will be the motivation for her to try her best in football. In addition, it may interest her to look for more information about that kind of sport and it must be a good topic to have a communication with her friend whether boys or girls. Moreover, playing sports can help people be healthier and avoid some sickness like heart disease when they get older.
In conclusion, there are more sport shows on television for males than females because of the disparity between males and females spectators and players. The showing time must be given equal to motivate them to play sport, get healthier and have more contents to share with friends and relatives.
