Overall, France had the highest number of tourists in both years. On the other hand, the tourist spending in the USA was significantly higher than that of other countries.
In detail, there were 83 million tourists visiting France in 2012, and it increased slightly to nearly 85 million in 2013. Similarly, the other three countries - the USA, Spain and Italy - also showed an upward trend in the number of visitors. By contrast, the number of people travelling to China decreased from 57.7 to 55.7 million in 2013.
With regard to tourist spending, visitors in the USA tended to spend more money than tourists in other countries. Their expenses were at $126.2 billion in 2012, and it rose drastically to $139.6 billion in 2013. The tourist spending in the USA was almost two times as high as that of other countries. Although China visitors declined, the tourist spending rose slightly from $50 billion to $51.7 billion in 2013.
