Hi, I am not entirely confident about my grammar etc; could anyone just quicky check the essay I wrote, see if there is anything that would need some improvement?
Foreign visitors should pay more than local visitors for cultural and historical attractions During the last decade, some visitors were surely surprised when they visited some interesting tourist attraction to find out they are supposed to pay more money than anyone who lives in the country where the attraction is located. I do not think that is the right approach, even though there might be some valid reasons for it. There is one strong argument in favor of making foreign tourists pay slightly more; people already living in the country most likely pay taxes that cover some of the expenses the administrators of any attractions have to pay to keep it open for public. When we consider this, it does not seem fair to ask a foreign visitor for the same amount of money, and even less fair for anyone who is a native and does not travel at all. However, the economy is not so simple – and more tourists might greatly contribute to the income of any country. Without exact numbers, however, it cannot be surely said that this argument is actually valid. In my opinion, once a person learns that he has to pay more in a particular country, he would start considering visiting some other. Today, all a tourist has to do is check several websites and simply find out if others say about the prices. Is a bit more cash worth risking the decrease of the popularity of tourism in the country? If we put away the numbers and laws, in the end we are all human beings; if you ask a person for money just because of his nationality, it does seem at least immoral - unless there is a legit study that would confirm that a person from one country suffer loss of money because of foreign tourists. I believe we should all pay the same price, regardless of our nationality. In a perfect world, it would be the same all over the world, so no one would feel that he is treated unfairly, not visitors, nor the natives. It is probably quite impossible to achieve this; time have learned us all that once someone does something, there are always those who will follow – once there is a place where the prices are higher, it is only a matter of time before it becomes a globally accepted concept.
That's it, thanks a lot!
