Could you please help me with this?

How would you phrase the following sentences please?

Is it correct to say : I went up an escalator going down?
I wasn't looking and I went up an escalator going down by mistake and fell on my face.

How would you ask this at a mall?
Where is the escalator going down? I can only spot the one going up.

There is one lever for both hot and cold. How do you say:
Turn the sink lever to more hot side. The water is too cold.

Talking about buttoning a coat. How would you phrase this naturally?
Button down starting at the neck. Don't button up because you might miss a button and find that the buttons aren't aligned.
