Topic: Long distance flight uses more fuel than cars and brings pollution to the environment. We should discourage non-essential flight rather than limit the use of cars. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays environment issues are the most concerning topic among people living around the world. Some people think that long distance flights are a subject to blame for over-exploiting fossil fuel and the decreasing well-being of humanity. Others, myself included, believe that the restriction of non-essential flights should be applied and increasing the use of cars is short-sighted of view.
There are several advantages of using flights on the daily basis. To start with, in globalised era, people are expected to do business with the others living in different countries or continents, hence it would be harmful for the development of economy, especially logistics, if the non-profitable time is extended by the restraint of measures of transportation. For example, the perishable foods could be deteriorated if they are delivered by ships taken long time up to 1 or 3 months. Furthermore, traveling by air planes is playing a key role in hospitality industry because they are contributing billions of dollars from all tourists for the nation. For instance, Vietnam is one of the top tourist attractions by the reasonable cost of travel, which is attributable to encourage the private sectors to invest in charter-flights.
The disadvantages of increasing vehicle owners could eclipse the advantages of that because of a variety of reasons. First, a greater number of cars could lead to the rise in the demand of expanding road systems. This results in a substantial amount of taxes spent on reconstructing roads, which might make an investment on the others' welfare benefits. On the other hand, increasing the use of cars on the daily basis could produce a massive amount of exhaust fumes in equality with that of air planes, meanwhile the efficient of cars could not be incomparable with long distance flights in terms of transporting overseas.
In conclusion, the government should of course do research on alternating methods of transportation to reduce the impact of human on environment, but encouraging citizens to use their vehicles should never be considered as a long-term solution.
