Task 2: In countries where there is high unemployment, most pupils should be offered only primary education. There is no point in offering secondary education to those who will have no hope of finding a job. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?

It is said that it is pointless to give secondary education to pupils in nations where the unemployment rates are high. They should only be offered primary education. I completely disagree with this statement because the job market is unpredictable and knowledge is a crucial key to reduce the unemployment rates.

Providing pupils with merely elementary education may have several negative outcomes. First, this acts as a deterrent to their future career because many of them are likely to seek employment overseas. However, if they do not have adequate knowledge and sufficient qualifications, their abroad dream might be made impossible. This is clearly illustrated by a recent study carried out in Syria, where 50% of the population is made jobless due to inadequate degrees and certificates.

On the other hand, students ought to be equipped with fundamental education because it is infeasible to make accurate prediction about the job market. It may experience abrupt changes that we are unable to anticipate. Therefore, adolescents should be well prepared in terms of academic and practical knowledge so as to ensure their future. This benefits individuals and the whole nation. For example, in VN in 2002, there was a significant and unexpected increase in the employment rates which enabled most of the population to be employed.

In conclusion, some people argue that students in countries where there is high rate of unemployment should only be provided with primary education and giving them secondary education is useless. Nevertheless, I believe that they should be adequately educated because many of them are potential working people. In addition, another reason for my belief is based on the unpredictability of the job market.
