In spite of the worldwide recession foreign direct investment (FDI) in Korea has been largely increasing.

FDI recorded from January to July is 6,792,000,000 dollar, up 32.4 percent, compared to the same period last year. This is the largest sum of investment since 2000 (7,400,000,000 dollar) if calculated from earlier this year up to July.



This performance is largely due to the fact that the performance in July highly rose. Up to June, performance was 4,600,000,000 dollar in FDI, a slight increase of 2.1 percent from the same corresponding month last year. However, 2,146,000,000 dollar has been recorded in July.

Researcher says that U.K trading company E and Netherland service company S respectively recorded 690,000,000 dollar and 640,000,000 dollar. These investment records brought the performance up in FDI.

This situation is exceptional. Because FDI in China was reduced by 20.3 percent from the same period last year and the decrease in FDI in Vietnam is by 89 percent.



For Japan FDI is 18,020,000,000 dollar, down 63.2 percent from the same period last year. FDI in Twain also plunged by 53.1 percent to 1,810,000,000 dollar.



Going into more details about FDI, manufacture field decreased by 1.4% to 1,757,000,000 dollar and service field increased 53.7% to 5,090,000,000 dollar.
