Eysenck has explained this condition by the processing efficiency theory and has suggested that individuals with high anxiety show lower cognitive efficiency. Investigations have shown that as simple calculations do not require significant working memory resources, they don't seem to be affected by anxiety. However, anxiety showed a significant effect on complex calculation tasks."
