Several languages are in danger of extinction because they are spoken by very small numbers of people. Some people say that governments should spend public money on saving these languages, while others believe that would be a waste of money.

Discuss both these views and give your opinion.

Some languages in the world have to face extinction because of a lack of speakers. Many people believe that government should use some public money to preserve those languages, while the opposite thought it would not be effective and efficient. In my opinion, though both views have their own good points, I believe that maintaining the diversity of languages is an important thing.

On the one hand, many people thought that using public money for preserving the languages which are lack speakers is such a waste of money and time. The cost of maintaining the languages would be expensive due to the small number of people using it and many young would not choose those languages to learn and speak in daily life nowadays. They believe that the money could be spent on other important majors such as education, public transport, and health, etc.

On the other hand, many people believe that maintaining the diversity of languages is necessary. Each country has its own traditional language which is spoken by ancestors and descendants, and they have been used for many generations. There are lots of myths, legends, traditional and cultural activities which are passing over to the next generation using these languages, and so does some kinds of literature and poems. If these languages become extinct, it may lead to many nations will lose their precious historical cultures. Therefore it is important for governments to take some efforts in maintaining minority languages, though the cost of preserving them might be considered expensive.

In conclusion, several languages in the world may have to face extinction nowadays. Though both views have their own positive side, I personally believe that people should protect the diversity of languages.
