The monthly price of exported rice from ThaiLand and VietNam from 2012 to 2015 ( Million dollars per tons)

Given are the line charts illustrating the cost of rice exported from Thailand and VietNam monthly between 2012 and 2015.

Overall, it can be seen that the expenditure of rice in these two nations was not balanced with the average disbursement of food from VietNam lower than Thailand.

In comparison to the previous three years, Vietnam had the highest price for 12 months in 2012. From July to December 2012, Thailand's prices were at an all-time high. In 2012, both Vietnam and Thailand paid more for their exported rice than the average. In the next year, the price still remained at a high level. Nevertheless, the cost steadily went down throughout the period. Especially, the data of Thailand decreased from the highest point from 550 million dollars per tons to the lowest point at about 400 million dollars, Vietnam showed the slow decline of the exported rice’s price. The highest price of rice exported from Thailand was 550 million dollars per ton in two months, December 2012 and January 2013, compared to 410 million dollars per ton in August and September 2012 from Vietnam, indicating a significant price difference. Thailand’s lowest price was 400 million dollars per ton in December 2013, and Vietnam’s lowest price was 300 million dollars per ton from January to March 2015.
