Could you help me to paraphrase the following sentence? Much thanks.

The sentence is "So obvious, indeed, is the necessity of teaching and learning for the continued existence of a society that we may seem to be dwelling unduly on a truism." Could you help me to paraphrase the sentence, i do not quite understand the meaning of "a society that we may seem to be dwelling unduly on a truism". Much thanks.
