Could you help me to fix the given text?

Could you help me with the sentence below please? Is it correct? Thanks in advance


Due to the increasing population and the increasing number of vehicles in recent years, congestion occurs at the intersections and conventional (fixed-cycle) traffic lights, in other words, the traffic control systems with fixed green and red periods are not enough to eliminate the congestion in the traffic.
