Could you help me phrase this?

I had scotched a magnet to a non magnet surface. I held another magnet to the one scotched :
Does the following sentence make sense ?

The (magnet/magnetic field) was stronger than the piece of tape that's holding the magnet in place. The magnet scotched came off and stuck to the magnet I was holding.

Thank you

Anonymous The (magnet/magnetic field) was stronger than the piece of tape that's that was holding the magnet in place. The magnet scotched that had been taped came off and stuck to the magnet I was holding. I doubt that you’re referring to the word ‘scotched’, which is defined as ‘putting a stop to something’.
