Could you help me correct my sentences?

"Your souvenir has not yet arrived. When my friend (or another friend?) in Florida sent me stuff (something or a thing?), it took about ten days but it seems to take too long this time. I have no idea why this is happening."

My questions are:
Whether the part "my friend" sounds more natural than "another friend." Or there is more, for example, " a friend of mine."
Stuff, something or a thing, which one should I use?
Please correct any error in these sentences.

Than you.

Since both of them are my friends, that usage confused me. Okay, thank you so much, Mister Micawber.
