In the era of industrialization and modernization, there is an increasingly concern about the growth of traffic and environmental pollution. Therefore, raising price of fuel, particularly price of petrol, is believed to be the best solution to those problems. Personally, I totally support this opinion.
It is undeniable that putting up the price of petrol leads to a decline in private vehicle drivers since they realize that traveling by public transports will save their budgets instead of private vehicles which require high cost for petrol. Moreover, the more people traveling by public transports, the less traffic congestion caused in rush hours, which also results in the diminish in road accident rate. A study in 2016 in the USA, for instance, reveals that countries with higher petrol get lower road accident rate than those with cheaper ones.
Besides, the fact that petrol price is increased can alleviate environmental problems because it cuts down on carbon dioxide emissions from motorcycles and cars. This is really beneficial since the reduction in CO2 release can lessen negative impacts of green house effect, one of which is global warming. Furthermore, the phenomenon of acid rain is decreased with reduced carbon dioxide emission, which will not only give protection for human beings’ health and agricultural activity but also prevent animals’ habitat destruction. In fact, since 2017, experts all over the world have recommended that we can obtain all of benefits mentioned above if governments raise the price of petrol.
From my point of view, another effective measure is that governments and local authorities should launch some campaigns or propose policies in order to encourage residents to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and use environment-friendly fuels, instead. In addition, lowering cost and improving facilities of public transports are great ways to render people feel more comfortable when using them for going to work.
In conclusion, increasing petrol price helps people solve present-day problems as well as bring humans great benefits in many ways in the future.
