Could you help me?

Could you tell me whether I can transform my sentence from "You letter caused her a great deal of distress." into "You letter caused a great deal of distress to/for/of her."?

Thank you.

I would prefer present perfect tense: "has caused..." to infer the pain and distress still affecting her.

Hi guys,

There is nothing in the original that indicates the distress is still affecting her.

Perhaps the speaker is talking about some incident that happened 50 years ago. Perhaps 'she' died years ago. Or perhaps not. We are simply not told.
