Could you help me?

I know that I can change the sentence, "The distance from the earth to the moon is about equivalent to twenty times the earth's diameter." into this form, "The distance from the earth to the moon is about equivalent to twenty times as far as the earth's diameter."

However, I found out that I couldn't change another sentence, like "The Air Jordan 3 is sold for three times as high price as the maker charges for it." into "The Air Jordan 3 is sold for three times the price of what the maker charges for it."

For me, the structure of each pair seem totally same. So, I can't understand , in the sencond pair, why I couldn't change it into another form by the same way.

Could you explain why?

Thanks.

By the way, how is "The Air Jordan 3 is sold for three times the price at which what the maker charges for it." or "The Air 3 is sold for three times the price which the maker charges for it."?

Some may consider this OK, but my ear takes it as "20 times as far as the earth's diameter is."

You'd almost have to say, "a distance equal to twenty earth diameters."
