In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry.

Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem?

It is true that hunger has been amongst the most common phenomena in the world, despite the rapid development of agriculture. The recent dramatic increase in the world population is clearly attributed to this problem and several measures could be done by the government such as more allocation to this field to alleviate the issue.
The reason for starvation is, undoubtedly, the ongoing proliferation of the population. Granted, the recent breakthroughs in agriculture have contributed significantly to the yield of food, which eventually did solve the problem of food lacking in some countries. However, the sudden increase in the world population has made it impossible for the majority of nations to satisfy their food needs, as the amount of agricultural product demanded far exceeds what they expected. Therefore, some developing countries, say, Africa, where the number of residents has grown considerably, was unable to provide a sufficient amount of food, thus, resulting in hunger. These people have no choice but to immigrate to other countries or to wait for foreign subsidies.
There are several solutions that the government could consider to tackle this problem. First and foremost, the officials should allocate more funds to agriculture. Only by this will the farming areas and the number of farms increase, which will eventually produce more food. Take, for example, China, which is synonymous with its large population, successfully coped with hunger by increasing the proportion of agriculture in the national economic focus. The farmers there have been provided with free tools and all the essential modern machines by the governments, and the prices of domestic food have been adjusted to be higher than average. As a result, the people there no longer have to suffer from food lacking as the food produced perfectly satisfied their needs, and this proves that more focus on this field would do wonders to ameliorate hunger.
In conclusion, the number of people who are suffering from hunger is still considerable regardless of the advancement in agriculture. The main cause of it is overpopulation and more focus in agricultural sectors should be imposed by the governments to resolve the issue.
