It has now become the norm that people including adults and children start to work and study online thanks to affordable and reachable technology. In my opinion, while this trend has several positive impacts on working, it seems to do more harm than good for children who study online.
In terms of grown-ups, working from home is a flexible way in which they can decide on the best time and place for them to work. In other words, they can choose to finish their tasks in the early morning after having breakfast or at midnight when all the housework has been done. By that, they not only work efficiently at their own pace but also achieve a balance between work and private life, which is hardly maintained when you have a nine-to-five job at a company. Moreover, people who work from home can devote their spare time to themselves and their families.
On the other hand, for children, the negative aspects of studying from home are somewhat superior to its advantage. One problem that can arise from this trend is that the most effective approaches to every subject are not built. To give a clear example, besides some core theoretical subjects such as Mathematics, Literature, or Science which can be taught online without any significant obstacles, when it comes to Art, Music, or Physical Educations, which are practical subjects, traditional classes are much more adequate. Another issue to address is that when the chance of interacting with teachers and classmates is minimized via a screen, so does the opportunities of developing soft skills like debating, teamwork, or leading to name some. This is not to mention a sedentary lifestyle among students, which can lead to many health problems in the future.
In conclusion, while I recognize the possible advantages of online working towards the grown-ups, the tendency of children studying from home has brought about many problems for this to be considered a positive trend.
