Essay & Composition Writing

Could you fix my wrong grammar and vocabulary, please?

It's been a while since I wrote here. I graduated from college last month. My sister bought me a laptop (or bought a laptop for me?). I was happy about it. From now I can study easily English with this. I started to work for three hours on weekdays at the shop as well in this month which I work at weekends for three hours on weekdays. Very short time. It was warm today. Spring is coming.

I was happy about that / with it.

Why isn't "about it" not good? it depends much on preposition?
Thank you!
