Could you explain this lyrics?

Send me off shore
It's a cold blooded war
I can't win
I give in
I give in

In the field of my fight
We can wonder all night
Why we have
All this love
All this love

You and I, we were drawn
In the break of the dawn
With the boreal wind
But we can't change the world
No we can't change the world
It's been done
by someone
long ago

Send me off shore
There's a bright semaphore
Calling in

Every wind
Every wind

In the loop of my game
There's a whole life to blame
It's been done
But we won
what we won

You and I, we both run
with a unloaded gun
For the same piece of land
Where no endings end
But we can't change the world
No we can't change the world
It's been done
by someone
long ago

I don't understand the words in bold. Could you interpretate them, please?
I guess the loop of my game means the rule of my game.
Thank you.

A "loop" often means a circle which you go round repetitively, like a fixed daily routine which can be boring. The words of this song have a very vague meaning, and in my view, they have very little artistic quality. I usually recommend to students that they don't try to understand the lyrics of most pop songs if the meaning is not immediately obvious.

Hi

One of the reasons people go round in loops (in the way that Michael describes) is because they blame themselves for something in the past. They then repeat the situation, trying to correct what they did before. They become like a chess player, playing out the same sequence of moves over and again, trying to see where they went wrong

Something like that would fit. Unfortuna

I find that many pop lyrics are close to meaningless because the most important objective is that they rhyme and sound pleasant to the ear. Really good rhyming and meaningful lyrics are a very rare sight and few people have that level of skill in the language. Record companies are generally not interested in investing time and money in producing good lyrics, in my observation.

Hi

That pop lyrics commissioned for the commercial charts tend to be trivial is not really in doubt. Keren Ann's song isn't written in that genre, so it's not trivial to say that, unfortunately, the lyrics look translated or maybe it's just one of those songs where the lyrics don't work in translation

As for the UK top ten, yes, it's not going out of it's way to win the Nobel Pr
