Could you explain the meaning of the word "either" in this sentence?

Hello,

I am doing an English exercise that contains two texts. First I'm asked to read one of them and answer some questions about it. Then it says:

"Now read the other text. Underline five words in either text that you want to remember."

I'm a little confused about the meaning of the word "either" here. Do I have to choose five words in all, both texts taken together? (for instance, 2 from text A and 3 from text B). Or do I have to choose only one text (either A or B) and pick 5 words from it?

Thanks!

The way it is worded makes it confusing. To be safe, I'd underline five words in each text.
