Those that I have crossed out do not sound natural to me. I hope the explanations in red help with your understanding.

I do not recognize many of the phrases you list.
Note that idioms are very specific set phrases. Substitution of a synonym (no matter how close in meaning) for any word in the phrase usually results in nonsense.
eg. She has a bee in her bonnet.
These do NOT work
She has a bee in her hat.
She has a buzzing insect in her bonnet.

I use "I'm of two minds on this issue" (I can argue both sides equally well.)
He has a closed mind. (No one can change his mind.)

It boggles the mind. (It is awesome or unbelievable.)
