Could you correct this question

Hi teachers,
Would you correct the question?
Context:
Peter opened the door and went in. There were a lot of people in the shop, and he waited quietly behind them. People looked at him, and a man went out quickly.

Question:
How did the people react to Peter’s coming in? (It's a little bit strange, isn't it')
They looked at him and a man went out.

Thanks in advance.

I think it reads slightly better as "How did people react..." (i.e. delete "the").

There is nothing strange here. The grammar is fine. If you want to pick at details, however, it's hard to claim that the
