Could you correct the explanation on the example?

Hi teachers,
According to this example
Jane has phoned Peter three times, trying to make him change his mind.
The following explanation may be too complicated for my students:
Here, the present perfect places us in the still ongoing story. It is not all over. He may yet change his mind.
Could it be like this, without changing its essence?
Here the present perfect places us in a story that has not finished yet. It is not all over. He may change his mind.
