Could you correct or confirm these questions? (9-11)
Hi teachers,
This is the paragraph:
It took Baxter several seconds to realise where he was. At first, all he could feel was a terrible pain in his jaw . Then he heard the sound of a car engine starting. He looked up and saw Halls pointing to it. Suddenly Baxter realized everything. Halls tried to run after the car but it was too late. Coke was gone and so was their car!
1. How long did it take Baxter to perceive where he was? It took him several seconds.
2. What could Baxter feel at the beginning? A terrible pain in his jaw.
3. Did Coke activate the car? Yes, he did.
(From a previous paragraph the students know Coke jumped in the car.)
4a. Who was gone? Coke was.
4b. Who wasn't there anymore? Coke wasn't. (Is it also possible?)
5. What was also gone? The police car was. / Their car was.

Even though yours sounds very good, I mean it is correct, Why I can't use 'could' for the same purpose.
