Could you correct or confirm the questions? (1)

Hi teachers,
This is for a listening comprehension exercise. The text is from a CD.
Alex Dinon has escaped from prison a day ago.

If this is what the students will hear:
The next morning Alex Dinon was forty kilometres south of the prison. He moved quickly and stayed away from towns and villages. It was winter and the weather was cold, so there were not many people in the fields. He looked behind him often, but nobody saw him and nobody followed him.

Are these suitable questions to ask?
1 Where was Dinon the day after? He was forty kilometers south of the prison.
2. How did he travel and what did he avoid? He moved quickly and avoided towns and villages.
(Not so sure about number two, in particular the verb ‘travel’)
3. Why were there not a lot of people outdoors? Because it was winter and the weather was cold.
4. How do you know that he was worried? Because he looked behind him often.
5. Did anybody persecute Dinon? No they didn’t.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim,
Thank you very much for your reply.
CalifJim2. How did he travel and what did he avoid? He moved quickly He traveled on foot and avoided towns and villages.
I can't answer on foot, can I? What the students will hear is 'he moved quickly', so it doesn't match, does it?
CalifJimpersecute = torment Are you sure you meant that? I

Thinking SpainI can't answer on foot, can I?
The students might surmise it, as I did, but if you want 'quickly' in the answer, ask "How fast did he travel, and what did he avoid?"

I'd make that two separate questions.

Well, CJ already covered almost everything, but I just thought " a day ago" sounds kind of odd to my ear.
Present Perf. doesn't work with "ago". Perhaps, " .has escaped..since yesterday."

dimsumexpressPerhaps, " .has escaped..since yesterday."
That doesn't work, either.

Alex Dinon escaped from prison [yesterday / a day ago].

Hi dimsumexpress,
Thank you for your correction. You are right the present perfect can't be used with 'ago'. The mistake is mine.
