Could you correct my question?

Hi teachers,
Assuming that we know that Dinon is the President's murderer and according to this paragraph:
No,’ Felix said coldly. ‘That’s not right, and you know it. Dinon can’t get out of the country now. But we need to find him today. The Chief isn’t going to be very happy.

Is this a good question and answer?
How soon did they want to capture him? They wanted to capture him that the same day.

Thank you in advance.

I have already responded to this. It is a poor question for that answer because the only reasonable answer is ' as soon as possible '.

Hi Mister Micawber,
Thank you for your reply. You are right.
This was my original one:
How soon did they want to capture him? They wanted to capture him that day.
I thought if I added the phrase 'the same' it will be better. Then, I was wrong.

Yours was:
When did they want to capture

Hi TS.

Q: How soon did they want to capture him?
They wanted to capture him as soon as possible. Or:
They wanted to

Thinking SpainCould the answer also be, 'They wanted to capture him on that day'.
It could be, but again—you cannot specify what the student might answer. 'As soon as possible' is logically the most appropriate response.

This is not a native structure.

Hi Surfer,
Thank you for yours too!
It seems that I have a problem with 'how soon'. For me it is very clear what I have to answer when I have 'when' in the question, but it isn't when 'how soon' is in the question.
