Could you check this?

It's a complete waste of time to blankly watch TV for many hours.

Hi I'd say that's very good. I checked "blankly", just in case but, yes, it means "without real interest" Some people would say that you have "split the infinitive" there, by putting the adverb "blankly" between "to" and "watch". My own view is that it's OK but, in formal writing, to impress people, maybe it still shouldn't be done Dave

You can 'stare blankly' or 'blankly stare' at just about anything, it means to look at something without seeing or noticing anything on it. You can also 'mindlessly watch TV' which means you see it but don't think about anything you are seeing on it.

Wow, I now get a picture now:) Is it safe to say, "watch TV without thinking about any thinking?" Instead of mindlessly?

Hi

I think that gets complicated. To watch TV without thinking about thinking may actually mean that you are paying complete attention to it - which is a good thing

Some people sit in front of the TV while, in fact, they are thinking about the bills they have to pay, the argument they have had with their wife, or whatever. That is to be in front of the TV mindlessly
