- Of course, it would be far-fetched to come to this conclusion based on some limited experiences.

- I don't want to be the person (whom) I've thought to be hopeless.

Are both spoken English? I would like them to sound colloquial.

- I don't want to be the person who I think is hopeless. (Yours is OK, but this seems more idiomatic.)
