could you check these expressions...

I am writing a letter to a friend I haven't heard from a while. I wonder what is better to say (I thought to write a couple of options but if you have more appropriate ones I am keen to learn !) :
1) I finished my study at University...or I completed my degree sounds better?
2)I am searching for a job...or looking for a job is better?
3)I want to improve my English skills ...or language skills sounds better?
4) I went to NY and I crossed the Brooklin Bridge by car and I found it very exciting...any suggestions here?

Thank you Rover_KE.

Concerning degrees, would you say I have a degree in Biology or I was awarded a degree in Biology?
Whichever is right, is also true for an MA and PhD?

Thanks!
