Could you check the question

Hi teachers,
The context:
‘Dinon,’ the shopkeeper said slowly. ‘What did he do? Wait a minute. Yes! Did he write a book about the old President?’
‘He killed the President,’ Adam said. ‘He murdered him.’
Oh yes,’ the shopkeeper said. ‘I remember now. It was a good book. But the President’s murderer did not come into my shop this morning.’
Question:
Was Dinon (really) a writer in Adam's words? Explain your answer.
No, he wasn’t. Adam said he had murdered the President.
I guess Adam neither denies nor accepts that Dinon is a writer; right?

Thanks in advance.

Adam does not definitely deny that he was a writer. Maybe he was a writer as well as an assassin. Maybe he even wrote a book about the president and then assassinated him.

  • Adam does not definitely deny that he was a writer.
  • Maybe he was a writer as well as an assassin.
  • Maybe he even wrote a book about the president and then assassinated him.
  • Without any more context, I think it would be common to assume that the shopkeeper got completely mixed up about who Dinon was, and he wasn't a writer at all, but it really isn't possible to be certain.

Hi GPY,
Thanks for your reply.
As you've said we do not know whether he was a writer or not, all we know so far is that he murdered the president and that's only according to Adam.
