Letter of motivation
Dear Sir, Madam,
With this letter I would like to show my interest in application for Master’s Programme in Water Resources and Environmental Management for winter semester 2014/2015 in Germany. In this case I have chosen three suitable programme for me, such as Master Program in “Water Resources and Environmental Management – WATENV” at Leibniz University of Hannover.
I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree (Alumni) in Water Supply and Sewage (Water Management and Water Technologies Department) at Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin with an anticipated graduation date of June 2014.
I rather believe that Master’s Degree at Leibniz University will help me to achieve my goal to become high quality engineer of Water Management, according to the fact that water quality and availability are increasingly threatened by societal and environmental change and sustainable development in all areas Water Resources Management, such as Water Supply, Waste Water Treatment, Solid Waste Management and Sanitary Engineering is therefore essential for both present and future generations.
I would like to work in the Water Treatment field and take a part in the supporting the technologies for Water Resources protecting due to obtaining interdisciplinary knowledge and key qualifications in the field of sustainable water resources management.
During my studying at Ural Federal University I had summer internships (professional practice) in different construction companies, where I was able to plan and design overall schemes, such as sewer improvement schemes or flood defense programmes and associated structures (pumping stations, pipework and earthworks). Being interested in Water Treatment technologies I decided to make my Diploma on the topic: Water Treatment Plant for countryside”, which is the most actual direction into Residentional Building in Russia, according to the wide using the water sources with the low quality.
Currently I’m Water Treatment specialist working for a local engineering company, which provides various solutions for water cleaning processes, especially for industrial plants and residential buildings. My functions consist of planning suitable technology to achieve required quality of drinking water and to determine necessary equipment, according to the customer budget. After only three months of employment, I am provided the opportunity to completely manage multiple projects that included the evaluation of remedial strategies on a model equipment and project correspondence with clients and environmental regulators. With this responsibility, I became interested in the analytical chemical data and analysis procedures, and how I can correct the quality of supply water related to its purpose.

My 5 year Civil Engineering (Water Supply and Sewage) degree is specialized in Hydrology of Waterside Structure, Applied Chemistry of Water, Theoretical Basis of the Mechanical Treatment of Water, Waste Water Treatment and Sanitary equipment of buildings.
Under the ERASMUS Programme I lived and studied in Finland for 5 months. This studying allowed me to gain knowledge in Building Service Engineering, especially in Water Supply and Sewage. Moreover, I had the opportunity to meet people from different countries around the world, travel and explore other cultures with new relationships. Furthermore, a lot of friends of mine had pleasure to spend spring vacations in Germany, what made me interested in this country.
From my studying at Leibniz University I expect to obtain knowledge through this Master’s Degree programme provides interdisciplinary solutions in a market-based economy due to integrated management of water, wastewater, solid wastes, and air pollutants. Industrial production has an enormous impact on environment and society’s awareness of such effects is constantly growing. Studying the courses included in this Master Programme will let me understand how to accurately use water resources due to as research planning, scientific communication, and theories and methods of research and how to be a successful Environmental Engineer.
Of an exceptional motivation, I strongly imply myself in my academic and professional activities to carry out my objectives. My international experience and working in Engineering Company attest of my capacity of integration and adaptation. I had the pleasure to meet varied cultures and to affirm my intrapersonal ease. Opened to others, speaking English language in addition to my I have a very strong desire to pursue a career in international Engineering company, thus allowing my blooming on the personal level as well as professional.
Therefore, my goal is to develop my aptitudes and improve on them to a degree that would allow me to better understand the subtleties of Environmental Engineering. I would very much like to achieve this through studying and following the Master´s Degree Programme in Water Resources and Environmental Management.
