Could you check my grammar please....?

Hello,
I would be very grateful if you could check this passage. I know it's long...

In our questionnaire occur words which are used more frequently than the others. According to results we cannot assume that learners know the right meaning just because particular word is commonly and more frequently used. The participants tended to infer the meaning of the word given in the questionnaire from an existing and formally similar term in L1. The results present the fact that the wrong association have been already formed (also in the most advanced group) and probably it will be difficult for the learners to replace those with correct ones. What is more, the learners were convinced that they had already known some of these words, just because they simply looked familiar to them. This formal similarity may cause overestimation of learners’ knowledge, and as a result they might do not check these words in a dictionary (as they might do with completely unfamiliar words). It should be emphasized that recognition and understanding of words in isolation is a more difficult task than deducing the meaning of words in a reading passage. According to our results (section 4) false friends misled students into transferring meaning of given word form L1 even when it was inappropriate in the context provided.
