Task 2: In many countries, more and more people choose to buy imported food rather than food produced locally. Why people buy imported food? What could be done to encourage people to buy local food?

Here is my essay:

"Choosing to buy imported food instead of food produced locally is more popular in many countries. There are some reasons for people to buy that way but it should have some solutions to deal with this problem by encouraging people to buy local food.

Giving any decisions about what type of food should be bought might be hard for many customers and some justifications can make them decide to buy imported food but food produced locally. It is undeniable that with the development of the internet, logistics and import-export activities today, individuals are able to approach imported products easier than in the past and imported food is no exceptions. For example, do not need to go anywhere, all things you need just a computer which gained access to the internet and a pay card, you can see and buy a lot of things in other countries. Another compelling reason for the idea is that imported food can be strictly censored to ensure safe hygiene standards before selling. As a result, individuals can be secure in the food quality when they decide to choose it.

There are some measures to encouraging people to buy local food. Firstly, local food companies should concentrate on raising the quality of their products and product diversification strategy. By virtue of high quality food and various products relating to food, people can pay more attention on local food and more chances for them to buy it. Secondly, the government also should give more marketing opportunities to local companies by giving them government sponsorship like a way to ensure the quality of their food. Thus, local people are able to have a basis to trust in what they are going to choose.

In conclusion, although more and more people choose to buy imported food rather than food produced locally, I am of the opinion that they should pay more attention on local food to ensure the development of local economy."
