Could they be good synonyms for 'fasten'?

Hi teachers,
According to this sentence, 'Fasten your seat belt.'
a) close securely.
b) connect securely.

Why am I saying that?
Because at the end of each reading I give my students this tittle:
Glossary
Synonyms and Explanations for Some English Words
