This is a short college essay I have written, I would appreciate it greatly if someone could go over it and proof it as best they could. I'm sure I got all spelling errors out of it. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it a lot.

This essay is pretty much going to focus on the experience I had through my first eight years of school, and why it’s inspired me to do what I want to do. I’m telling you this up front, because I know whoever is reading this must read about two hundred of these things a day. At first I was concerned that my essay wouldn’t stick out among the hundreds upon thousands of others that got submitted. I took this concern to a teacher who told me that there was no way my quirky style of writing would be overlooked, no matter how mundane the topic was. I hope that teacher is right.
I’ve wanted to be a teacher since fifth grade. I had the coolest fifth grade teacher, Mr. Buckingham. I’m sure a lot of people say that, but I actually think if there were “Cool Teacher Olympics” Mr. B would take the gold every year. Ever since I’ve had this idea in my head to go into teaching, I’ve always been met from others with an enthusiastic remark such as “You’re going to be an awesome teacher!” I always hoped this would be the case. I hope that I could potentially be as cool Mr. Buckingham someday. My biggest concern is that every so often I would question how many students went to a university expecting to come out as that “awesome teacher” but later found out the grim reality that being the “awesome teacher” wouldn’t keep you a job for very long. Originally I intended to go into secondary school teaching, but after further thinking I realized that all of the teachers I really loved were my K-8 teachers. I’m not sure why this is, because I really do like a lot of my high school teachers too. I think when you’re an elementary or middle school teacher, you get more freedom perhaps, and maybe there’s a less stressful curriculum.
I guess being any kind of a teacher would be pretty neat. One thing that’s always intrigued me is the fact that you can ask any teacher what their favorite part of their job is, and a good majority of the time they will say it’s seeing their students grow up and graduate. I guess that’s striking to me because it’s something I would want to do, it must be kind of interesting to see students grow up in front of you, and it must be great to know that you’ve impacted their life in a largely positive way. That’s really what I want to do. At the end of the day, I would like to go home and know that I’ve helped my community, country, and the world even if it’s in a seemingly insignificant way. I would like to become a global citizen, but still retain that down-home “Mainer” attitude, friendly and hardworking. Of course, it’s a process to get to that point, to become a teacher and someone who can have an impact on the future, which is why I would like to attend a university in the state of Maine to gain a higher education.
