Topic: Research has shown that overeating is as harmful as smoking. Therefore, the advertising of certain food products should be banned in some way as the advertising of cigarettes is banned. Do you agree or disagree?

According to some research, the negative impact of eating too much is equivalent to that of smoking. Some people, therefore, are opposed to food advertising and think that it should be banned. I completely disagree with this view.

It is undeniable that smoking cigarettes is one of the underlying reasons as to why there has been an increasing number of people suffering chronic illnesses such as tuberculosis and pneumonia. Unlike this unhealthy habit of smoking, foods, in essence, pose no risk to human's health as long as they are produced sanitarily. Food companies that hold responsible for making high quality foodstuffs normally gain valuable certificates. Therefore, they have a right to advertise their products and it would be absurd to consider these adverts the culprit of obesity, which is mainly the result of people's failure to control their diets effectively. In fact, there are some deleterious foods and those are the only ones to be banned.

Were it not to be food advertising, we wouldn't be able to keep up with any new stuffs. In that businesses have poured a sizable amount of money into making their goods, it is imperative that they launch publicity campaigns to build brand awareness and encourage the audience to try the foods. In return, we ourselves could have a good opportunity to experience the recent foodstuffs. Consequently, advertising helps bring these companies massive profits and boost the country's economy as well as raise people's daily experience.

In conclusion, as long as the food advertised is harmless, if we make efforts in keeping our eating habits under control, food advertisements are highly beneficial and should never be banned.
