Could someone please correct my letter? :)

It would be awesome if someone could read and correct my applying letter for an exchange year at an Canadian high-school, please.

Why I wanna spend a year abroad in Canada

My name is***, I’m 16 years old and I live in a town near *** in Germany with my parents and my older brother *** (he is 18 years old). One of the main reasons why I would like to spend a semester in Canada is because I have always been interested in learning languages and speaking. I started to speak at an early age, I got soon pretty interested in books and I always had a passion for writing my own stories. These passion expanded even more when I entered elementary school and started to learn English. Since then I have gained an huge interest for other languages. I soon started to read English books, listening to audiobooks and watching English speaking TV shows. The same thing happened to me when I started to learn French in 6th Grade and since two years I have got the wish to spend some time in an English or French speaking country. So I thought that maybe I would be able to combine my love for these languages in Canada.

But these aren’t my only reasons for spending a few months abroad. I would also like to gain new experiences. I think the fact that I am a determined, talkative, sociable and adaptable person will also be very useful for gaining new experiences in another country.
I’m also very interested in sports and healthy eating. I enjoy jogging, horse riding, skiing and swimming just as much as I like cooking healthy things and trying new recipes. Additionally I also enjoy sitting down for a nice cup of tea while reading a book, watching some series on TV or writing down what flews through my mind. Another thing that never fails to calm me down is listening to some good music. I especially like ***.

I also try not to judge people too soon. I think every human being has walked their own path and we should stop judging some people without experiencing their journey by ourselves. I also see myself as a person who is pretty sensitive, that tries to understand why people are acting the way they do and I try my best to be understanding as I help other people if they have got a problem.

My weakness is that I am quite afraid of snakes as I have got a phobia for them so I am wishing for a host family which doesn’t have any reptiles as their pets. Also I would like to get in touch with a host family who has the motivation of showing culture as I would love to get to know Canada because it sounds like a wonderful country with a warmhearted culture.
