Letter Writing

could someone have a look at my motivation letter?

I write you because I want to apply for the Humanitarian Action Master’s Program at the University of Xxx.

Despite of my strong background in Business as well as in Market Research and Techniques I always felt that my moral principles do not belong to the business field, but to humanitarian relief. In this way, I always bear in mind to do a work that has a positive and gratifying effect on society rather than making huge profits for a big company. Therefore, to be chosen in this program it wold help me to correct the situation and focusing on- what I am really fascinated to do- helping the most disadvantaged.

Along these lines, I gain excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in several disciplines of management and research methods that entitle me to be a multi-skilled person with a great development potential. Moreover, during my bachelor studies I became truly fascinated about logistic field and its enormous possibilities of application in real life. So that, the NOHA Master in International Humanitarian Action will help me further my career in the field of humanitarian aid to coordinate and implement complex and efficient logistic campaigns in post-conflict areas. The fact that the program combines academic and practical experience is exceptional and this will definitely help me improve even more my logistics knowledge and technical assistance expertise as well as build up my project management skills.

Outside the academic context, I am keen on learning about foreign cultures and exchanging ideas with people from different backgrounds. As a result, I enjoy travelling and understanding how dissimilar environments result in different traditions and social behaviors. During the winter 2009 I spent 9 months- scholarship living in Poland and now I reside in the Netherlands three-year now, in both places I have established numerous friendships with native citizens which highly enriched my cultural background and significantly broadened my horizons. The fact that I am fluent in Spanish and Catalan (mother tongue) and English gave me the advantage to work with Anglophone and Hispanic refugees. In addition, I also have intermediate knowledge of Dutch.

Being from Spain, I am witness to see a myriad of immigrants coming from Africa and trying to cross the border in any way in order to reach Europe. Because of that, I am aware of the benefits of Humanitarian Action and this notion has always been my main motivation to work in the aid field. Therefore, taking part in the NOHA Masters will compliment my background and help me fulfill my future career plans which are to become a great logistic coordinator in humanitarian field and delivering goods, drinking water and medicines to those who have a lack of resources and really need it. Thereby, I am drawn to the Master’s Programme offered by the University of Groningen because of its multidisciplinary nature which provides a diversity of viewpoints and expertise. I am also interested in the bringing together of academic and practical experience that the program provides.

In line with my plans to work full-time in the area of humanitarian aid and assistance I see this program as an indispensable step towards that goal.

I thank you for considering my application and look forward to your favourable reply.
