could or would

Ms. Guth WOULD/COULD rather not invest that money in the stock market.
Do I say something really different if I use one or the other, or is one more polite. To me both are correct. But please tell me which one is better ?

We use only 'would' with 'rather' to express preference. 'Could rather' is not natural.
