Could in the if clause

Hi.

Is it OK to use modal verbs in the if clause of a conditional sentence? If so, what type of conditional should we call it?

Take a look:

In the letter of reference, I would appreciate it if you could include information related to my trustworthiness, my enthusiasm and my cross-cultural awareness while in teacher training college.
