Could care less or couldn't care less

Hi, What is correct? "I could care less" or "I couldn't care less?"

Hello Donap, Many people, especially in the USA, say, "I could care less". This is a common phrase, but it is bad English. It has always bothered me that people use this phrase to mean the opposite of what the words are actually saying.

  • If you want to use words in a way that conveys your true meaning, then "I couldn't care less" or "I could not care less" will have more impact.
  • Of course, this is not a nice thing to say to anyone at anytime, but there can be times when less than nice words are required.
